Active Ingredients

What the actives do for skin

Indicative skin benefits of the key actives in this base. Final claims should be validated against your finished-product testing and local regulations.

Glycolic Acid

  • Chemical exfoliation that removes dull, dead skin without abrasive scrubbing
  • Fades pigmentation, dark spots and uneven tone
  • Anti-ageing: improves elasticity, softens fine lines and stimulates collagen
  • Unclogs pores and helps prevent blackheads and breakouts

Lactic Acid

  • Gentle exfoliation that dissolves the bonds holding dead cells together
  • Acts as a humectant for deep hydration and a stronger lipid barrier
  • Evens tone and texture, fading dark spots and hyperpigmentation
  • Supports collagen and cell regeneration

Salicylic Acid

  • Gentle astringent that unclogs pores and controls excess sebum
  • Treats and prevents whiteheads, blackheads and mild acne
  • Lightens blemishes and refines visible pores
  • Reduces inflammation around active breakouts

Applications

  • Anti-acne and anti-ageing facial and body bars
  • Personal care and cosmetic brands
  • Private-label and contract manufacturing
  • Designer, artisan and gifting soaps

Processing & handling

  1. Equipment: jacketed mixer (SS 304/316) with anchor/paddle low-RPM stirrer (VFD if available); all contact parts SS 304/316.
  2. Heating: hot water, steam or hot-oil unit. Mixer must be clean and dry — sanitise with 2% formaldehyde solution if required.
  3. Add flakes to the mixer. Heat with slow stirring until the soap melts, maintaining temperature below 80 °C.
  4. Note: heating above 80 °C may turn the product translucent or opaque. Maintain moisture content — add sorbitol / glycerin if necessary.
  5. Cool the mass to 70 °C. Add colour, fragrance and additives as required (colour as per BIS, Schedule Q preferred; perfume stable at 70–80 °C).
  6. Transfer the mass to the mould or Schist cooler.
  7. Stamping: cut and stamp on a manual or automatic stamper in the desired shape, then pack in cartons or shrink wrap.
